A tintype is a one of a kind, hand crafted photo made on a metal plate. The process is entirely handmade and these plates are one of one. This unique process dates back to the 1850’s. The plate is sensitized, exposed, and developed in a darkroom. After the plate is developed, it is washed, dried and varnished, making them extremely archival. We still have tintypes around from the 1800s!

Drew Pignatelli is a self taught wet plate collodion photographer, practicing in the Philadelphia area. Drew offers portraits, wet plate workshops, and pop up events. If you are interested in setting up a pop up event in your space, please reach out. If you are interested in getting your very own tintype, check out the pop up schedule here.
